Council Resolution on reviewing the representation of the EU Member States on the WADA Foundation Board and the coordination of Member States’ positions prior to WADA meetings.
Summary Full text Source
The resolution updates how EU Member States are represented on the WADA Foundation Board and how they coordinate positions before WADA meetings. Building on earlier Council decisions, it introduces a more transparent and coherent framework aligned with EU law and the principle of sincere cooperation.
It confirms that the EU and its Member States must effectively exercise their competences in shaping WADA decisions, reflecting the Agency’s global role in safeguarding integrity in sport. CAHAMA remains the forum for pan-European coordination, while the Working Party on Sport (WPS) continues as the main EU platform for preparing positions.

EU Member States will retain three Board seats from 1 July 2026. One will be held by a minister from the Trio Presidency, and two by ministers jointly designated by all Member States, with clear rules on nomination, mandates and replacements. EU positions will be prepared through standard Council procedures, with reporting duties after each WADA meeting. The framework will be reviewed by the end of 2029.
